getting lost in wonderland.

March 6, 2010

hello lovelies!
just had to share a  book i’m reading :)

with all the hype of tim burton’s ‘alice in wonderland,’ i realized that i’ve never read lewis carroll’s ‘alice in wonderland.’
how could this be?

i’ve seen the cartoon movie a hundred times over,
but never read the book.
and, i decided,
this is unacceptable.

have you ever read it?
it is probably the most charming book i’ve ever read.
immediately you are pulled in with alice, falling through the rabbit hole,
and find yourself surrounded by whimsy and wonder.

it provides so much imagery,
giving me much inspiration.

now, if you haven’t read it, i think you ought to run right out to a bookstore and grab a copy.
and i don’t want to spoil any of it, but here is a little snippit to show you just how cute it is,

“..I wonder if I shall fall right through the earth! How funny it’ll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downwards! The Antipathies, I think — ” (she was rather glad there was no one listening…as it didn’t sound at all the right word) ” — but I shall have to ask them what the name of the country is, you know. Please, Ma’am, is this New Zealand or Australia?” (and she tried to cursey as she spoke — fancy curseying as you’re falling through the ir! Do you think she could manage it?) “And what an ignorant little girl she’ll think me! No, it’ll never do to ask: perhaps I shall see it written up somewhere.”

so cute.
now all i want to do is draw what i envision, or somehow capture it in photographs.

ah, back to my book to get lost with alice in wonderland.

what book are you enjoying? do you have a favorite read?
